The Devil Wears Prada Book Cover

Adobe Illustrator and InDesign

Hardcover book jacket designed for the 2003 book The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger.

While typical covers on the book emphasize the presence of Miranda Priestly, mine includes equal emphasis on protagonist Andrea "Andy" Sachs.

Cover Drafts

To begin the process of redesigning the book jacket, four drafts for a book cover were created. Out of the two, the leftmost and second-to-right cover designs were selected to be further expanded as book jackets.

While there was an initial focus on paying homage to the original book cover by focusing on the "devil" aspect and Miranda Priestly, it was decided to focus on creating a cover that featured Andrea "Andy" Sachs.

Jacket Drafts

While the book cover drafts varied in terms of what was being depicted, the book jacket drafts remained the same with both designs. However, when being critiqued, the two main points were to stick with one font choice throughout the design and to move away from what had already been done.

Because of this, it was decided to go with the rightmost design out of the two potential designs, albeit with some changes before it would become the final design.
